Overview
Launch a 2L bottle over 100 feet into the air with AquaPod!
Combining a readily-available launch vehicle (a 2L bottle) with water and air pressure, AquaPod delivers amazing results easily and safely.
Simply partially fill a 2L bottle and slip it over the launch tube, add air pressure with any standard bike pump, and then pull the launch string to "ignite" your water rocket. Launch the same "rocket" over and over simply by adding more water and air.
AquaPod prevents over-pressurization with a built-in relief valve. Intended for ages 14+.

AquaPod is a fun contraption that shoots 2L bottles up to 100 feet in the air using only water and pressure.
Fill any 2L soda bottle a third full with water, safely create pressure with a bike pump, and pull the launch string to catapult your "bottle rocket" high into the sky.

Use a bike pump to pressurize your rocket
"Fueling" your AquaPod is easy. Connect any standard bike pump to the inflation valve and pump about ten times. If you've got a fancy pump with a pressure gauge, do not exceed 50 PSI.
A pressure release valve on the underside of the AquaPod prevents over-inflation. With the launch vehicle primed, disconnect your pump from AquaPod and get ready for lift-off!

No. Overfilling the bottle will cause the launch to fail.

Possibly, however we have not tested it and cannot say for sure if it will work. Do so at your own risk.
what do i do if the launcher launches by its self before i even get to 10 psi?
Check to make sure that the bottle is attached correctly. We also recommend checking the o-rings to make sure that they are in the correct location.
What size o rings? We are out of replacements.
The o-rings are 1" in diameter. You can find o-rings of almost every size at your local hardware store, so we recommend saving any o-rings that are broken so that you can make sure you're getting the right size.
I've used other launchers before with my students. Will the AquaPod launcher work with the small soda bottles such as the 13 and 16 oz.bottles?
As long as the mouth of the bottle is the same size it should work, however we have not personally tested any size other than the 2L, so we cannot make any guarantees.
So what happens If I don't fill the bottle with water?
Without water then you will not be able to achieve the lift necessary for takeoff.
What is the use of o rings?
The O-rings create a seal which holds the bottle in place and keeps the pressure from escaping.
What kind of pump is recommended?
We recommend using a regular bicycle pump.
will it work if i use a car pump or will the car pump explode
We definitely recommend sticking with a normal bicycle pump. A compressor like the one you're referring to could be dangerous in this context.
What happens if you fill the 2 liter bottle to the brim instead of filling it halfway?
It won't launch because there won't be enough room for the pressurized air.

Yes it can if not used properly. You should never aim it at yourself or others.
Will the bottle fly if I launch it when it's raining outside?
Absolutely. The pressure being released from the bottle is strong enough that it won't be hindered by raindrops.
What should I do to keep bottles from sticking to the launch tube?
The bottle shouldn't be sticking to the launch tube at all. It's difficult to diagnose precisely what the problem is without seeing it in action, but make sure that you're using the correct size bottle and the correct amount of pressure. The pressure built up inside the bottle should be more than enough to launch the bottle from the launch pad.
I live in Norway and we have 1.5 liter bottles, do you think theese bottles will work?
The manufacturer strongly recommends using 2-liter bottles. Anything smaller might not fit or might not fly as well as a 2-liter.
Can i use 1.5L bottle?
We strongly recommend using 2L bottles. We cannot guarantee that other sizes will work as well.
Does it run on batteries?
No, there are no batteries whatsoever.

The pump is not included.
What could happen if you hold the aquapod?
Without a stable surface to launch from, the bottle could go in virtually any direction. This could be dangerous.
Is a bottle included?
No but fortunately one shouldn't be too hard for you to come by.
Why I cant use soda?
You can but there is literally nothing to be gained from it. It doesn't work any better and it gets sticky soda everywhere when it takes off.
Can I use only air?
If that were possible we probably wouldn't bother with the water. Alas, water is required for the rocket to lift off properly.
Could you use this for Skeet Shooting? Because me and my dad were thinking to go Skeet Shooting :/
We wouldn't recommend it. If the launch pad isn't level or if the bottle is not on straight it could fly erratically. This would be horribly dangerous if you were trying to shoot it with a gun.
Can a 16 year old kid play with aqua pod?
If they do so responsibly, yes. We mention at the top of the page that the recommended ages are 14 and up.
Will the aqua pod blast if I put to much pressure ?
Yes it would. How the pressure is released is what differentiates a rocket from a bomb.
Why it is for 14 years old and+ ?
The bottle launches with a great deal of speed and power. Kids who aren't mature enough to understand how dangerous that is can hurt themselves pretty badly if they misuse the AquaPod.
How did you attach the camera to the water bottle without it breaking? Cuz if it did break, you wouldn't be able to upload it. So how did you attach it cuz i want to record it.
We didn't. That shot was actually taken using a remote controlled quad-copter. A camera would have been too heavy for the bottle to lift.
Can I Use An empty beer bottle? (Probably not dangerous at all!)
We seriously do not recommend using glass bottles. Not only will it not work as well (if at all), but it could be very dangerous.
What if I shoot it up into the air and it falls onto a person and I go to jail?
An empty soda bottle falling from 100ft isn't going hurt anyone.
Do I have to use a 2 L bottle or can I use a smaller one?
We strongly recommend using 2L bottles. We cannot guarantee that other sizes will work as well.
If you somehow reduce drag on the bottle, can the bottle gain a higher altitude?
It's certainly possible. The addition of a lightweight nosecone might help with that.
Can you use coloured water (water with food dye in it?)
Yes, but then you'll get dye everywhere.

We don't recommend using carbonated drinks, including Coke, with the Aquapod.

A cone would certainly reduce drag and fins would add stability, though we're not sure how great the difference would be.

This means that in the testing of this product, the bottles have been launched up to 100 feet in the air.
Why should I buy this if I can just use coke and mentos for a lot less money?
That's not even remotely the same thing. Coke and Mentos will not send a bottle hurtling skyward.
What if you don't have a bike pump? can you use another tool?
Technically you can use any type of pump you like so long as it fits into the base.

Nothing would happen. The bottle can only contain so much pressure, so adding anything else could only have two results: exploding or nothing at all.

As long as you have proper adult supervision, sure. You're going to need an adult to place an order online for you anyway.
What happens if the launch release got broke due to repeated usage as a lot of pressure is exerted on it
Then obviously it will no longer work. We do not sell replacement parts so you will have to buy a whole new unit.
Does it work with european 1,5 liter bottles?
Unfortunately we do not have any European bottles to test. The AquaPod was designed specifically for the 2-liter bottles which are common in the US, Canada, and Mexico, so we cannot guarantee that it will work with differently shaped bottles.
Can we also launch water bottle rocket at an angle to the horizontal ?
You can, but you should make sure that it's not aimed at anyone or anything.
Can you connect a electric pump to speed up the process?
It's not a particularly difficult or time consuming task. An electric pump could be dangerous since it's powerful enough to fill the bottle to the point of exploding.
Would it be possible to replace the pressure release valve as 60psi is needed to launch bottle rockets in science competitions?
Not that we're aware of. We do not suggest attempting to modify the launcher in any way because it could be dangerous.
Could I use the bottle rocket i made in school with this launcher?
Maybe? We don't know what your rocket looks like or how it was constructed, but if it's made from a 2L soda bottle and operates the same way, then sure.
can you use soda water?
It's not at all necessary. We suggest sticking to regular water.
Can you use food coloring?
You can, but keep in mind that the dyed water is going to spray everywhere.
How big is the package and how much does it weigh?
The entire product weighs approximately 18 ounces. Its packaging is 11.5" x 11.5" x 8.5".
How do I secure AuqaPod on the ground? Every time I pull, the pod moves. Is there an easy to secure it?
Try using short, abrupt pulls on the string to minimize movment of the base. If you're still struggling, simply set something heavy on one of the legs.
what will happen when i hold the bottle during the launch?
It could either not lift off or hit you in the face. Neither outcome is desirable.
How did you measure the altitude of the bottle to know it was 100 ft?
That comes straight from the manufacturer. The neat thing about science is that the same results occur when retested. Barring any intense crosswinds, the same amount of pressure and water will almost always have the same result.
What if I do not have a bike pump?
Fortunately bike pumps are relatively inexpensive and can be found at most sporting goods stores.

Is this the opposite of coke and mentos?
Mentos and diet coke is a chemical reaction which causes the soda to foam and shoot out; this is a physical reaction where compressed air forces the water out. It's similar but different.
How much mL of water we add for 60 psi air?
You're actually not supposed to exceed 50 psi. The included instructions will tell you exactly how much water you will need.
Will my action cam break if I shoot it 11 stories in the air with my aqua pod? What happened to your camera that you shot in the air?
That shot was actually achieved with a drone. Whether or not your camera would survive really depends on the quality of the camera.

I'm sorry but we do not sell the o-rings separately. You might be able to find similar o-rings at your local hardware store.

The release valve will only activate if you exceed 50 psi.

You can put the launcher on any flat surface stable enough to hold it.

Exactly as you'd imagine: three separate launchers being pulled one after the other.
What happens if you fill the bottle with CARBONATED water? And btw, isn't this how planes are pressurized?
Spaceships, submarines, AND airplanes! Carbonated water wouldn't make much of a difference though we don't recommend trying it.
Can you add glow stick stuff? Like the stuff in glow sticks?
Isn't that stuff toxic and usually filled with glass from the small vial you have to break inside to mix the chemicals? No, we don't recommend doing that.

Does putting a GoPro on it make it not go 100 feet since it weighs more?
A GoPro will definitely reduce how far the bottle flies and may even cause it to veer wildly off course if not perfectly centered.
Would something like wings on the bottle make it fly higher? I actually remember doing something like this for my fith grade class, and i'm wondering if it would be the same concept
Not higher, but it could add stability. The fins you see on rockets exist to create a more stable flight, not a longer one.
Not really a question, but a suggestion. We used something similar for a science project in school. applying a cone to the bottle to make it top-heavy and some tail fins improve height and accuracy. Ductape and cardboard are great materials for this.
A cone would certainly reduce drag, though we're not sure how great the difference might be. Thanks for your input!

After the jingle? We use a GoPro. As you can see, it wasn't the most stable flight ever launched.

The 2.0L bottles in my country have a different diameter cap and lid than in the US. What are the dimensions of the O-ring and the connector?
The O-Ring is rubber so it is flexible, however the connector is exactly the same size as the caps used on US soda bottles.
Is the aqua pod durable and will the launch release spring will break by daily use as it will bear pressure on itself?
The AquaPod is durable enough that using it as intended will not cause it to spontaneously fall apart. With proper care and use it should last indefinitely.

We don't recommend holding the Aquapod when the bottle is being launched.
What will happen if I pump up my 2L bottle on the aqua pod with out water and pull the string?
Then the air pressure alone will make the bottle leap up about a foot or so. Don't omit the most important part of the propulsion system!
Can I use blue jelly belly soda too?
You really should stick to water, as sodas are not only a sticky mess but could also gum up the mechanics of the launch pad.
Can empty bottles be used?
Empty bottles won't launch very far if at all. You need to have something significant (such as water) shooting out of the bottom to provide enough thrust.

Presumably, however we do not live in New Zealand so it's difficult for us to check on your behalf. The capacity of soda bottles is always listed on the bottle's label.

Perhaps size, but I'm fairly sure 2L bottles are available pretty much everywhere.

Minutes. It really depends on how quickly you pump the pump!

The AquaPod is quite sturdy and is made to handle the pressure of the launch.
How does it work?
Newton's 3rd Law is to thank here: the bottle pushes some of its water downward and the water responds by pushing upward on the bottle, propelling the bottle upward.

How many times can it shoot before it gets too weak?
Indefinitely! With proper care and maintenance, there's no reason why your AquaPod shouldn't last for a very long time.

You need to use water or another liquid to get enough pressure built up to launch the bottle. They did use a GoPro camera for the launch at the end of the video.
Since it is just air pressure, why do you have to put water in it? Would it work with no water in the bottle?
Not as well. The air pressure is what is forcing the water out, thus providing thrust.

What counts as clean water?
Water that isn't gross. It doesn't have to be collected from a mountain spring in the Rocky Mountains, but you should refrain from using water that you don't want splashed all over you.
What do you do with the item you used for the videos?(ex. The Mazooka you used in its video or the WLGBs you used in its videos)
Usually we add them to our prop department so that we can use them again later.
Does it work with food colouring?
I suppose you could put a few drop of food coloring in the bottle before filling it. I don't see why not, although you may stain pretty much everything that gets wet as a result.

Why would we? It's better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it.
