General Tso's chicken (approximate pronunciation is "zwoh") is named after a famous Qing dynasty general (Zuo Zongtang 1812-1885). Whether or not Zuo actually tasted the dish is unknown. The biggest mystery to us, however, is why the dish is named "Tso" and the guy's name is "Zuo".
