Overview
Cool Circuits is the challenging puzzle that dares you to complete an electrical circuit using eight seemingly simple pieces.
Start by choosing one of forty included paper puzzle cards and laying it on top of the puzzle box. The card illustrates a segment of the correct solution along with a smattering of hints as to how to place your pieces.
Cool Circuits are incredibly difficult to solve because each piece can be flipped as well as rotated in several orientations, and there is only one correct solution to each puzzle.
Portable puzzle box features pull-out tray for challenge card storage. Requires 3 x AAA batteries (which are included).

The goal of Cool Circuits is straightforward: complete a circuit by correctly placing all eight pieces onto the grid according to the conditions on the puzzle card. Depending on the difficulty of the puzzle card you've selected, you could be in for a very long night.

Despite having eight pieces you can arrange in a myriad of ways, each puzzle has only one unique solution. So you're probably not going to luck your way into the answer. Instead, you'll need to use your abstract thinking, spatial visualization, and deductive reasoning skills to solve these monsters.
There is only one correct arrangement of pieces per puzzle.

Four levels of difficulty
Cool Circuits includes a total of 40 puzzles. They are divided into four levels of difficulty: tutorial, beginner, student, and advanced. Don't be fooled into a false sense of security by those names. Even the so-called beginner puzzles are no walk in the park.

Cool Circuits has the potential to drive you insane. Because each piece can be rotated or flipped, there are seemingly endless combinations of arrangements. Combine this with a puzzle card that only provides a sliver of a hint, and you've got yourself a brain knot of Gordian proportions. Translation: good freakin' luck!

What do the backs of the cards look like?
The cards are double-sided, meaning that there is a puzzle on both sides of the cards.
What happens if you arrange the pieces,but out of order?
Nothing happens, which is the problem. The pieces must be laid out correctly or else the circuit will not work.
Can I get shock if not used properly?
Absolutely not.
What batteries are used for this game?
Three AAA batteries. We mention this at the top of the page in the "Features and Specs" section.
Do you have to use the paper? Or could you make your own cool circuit pattern?
The papers are required as they indicate which circuit is being attempted. No, you cannot create your own puzzles.
Will the lights burn out?
LED lights last an incredibly long time.
This is awesome!! But its super hard. Any of the Vat19 staff able to complete them?
We were able to complete some of the puzzles, but there were a few towards the end that had our brains thoroughly twisted.

No but you can always play it again!
What is the age for this game?
The manufacturer recommends ages 8 and up for Cool Circuits, mostly because the small pieces can present a choking hazard for younger players.

Yep! It's less of a puzzle and more of a training grid which helps you get a feel for how Cool Circuits works.

We know a circuit is being made, but beyond that we chalk it up to pure electronic wizardry.

received my CC the other day. We love it. there is a small white wire that protrudes from the back, near the on/off switch,. Seems to serve no purpose and is in the way. What is it for?
It sounds like you're referring to the wires that once connected to the "Try Me" button. They serve no other purpose and can be easily removed.
Hay vat19 I was wondering somthing about this product. if you wanted to make up your own way to connect the circuits do you have to use the cards that it comes with.
The circuits only work with the included cards.
How do u take the try me button off?
Simply pull it out. The "Try Me" button is only a wire with a plug.
Does this game make a sound when you win a puzzle?
It does! After completing a puzzle, the game board flashes and plays a short victory tune. There is also an option to turn the sounds off if you're playing someplace quiet (library, classroom, funeral home, etc).
If it doesn't work by the time it gets to my house, will you send a replacement?
We're always more than happy to assist with a refund or replacement should a product arrive damaged or defective. With that in mind, electronics do not usually expire in the mail.
Is this a good traveling game?
We would think so. All of the pieces and cards are contained in the base, and it's not as if you need a lot of room or a stable surface to play on.
How long is the battery life in it?
We don't have an exact number of hours. With that being said, you'd likely have to play nonstop (that is, 24/7) for several weeks to drain the batteries completely. In real time, that could be a a year or two. It just depends on how often and how long you play and the quality of the batteries.
Do you carry replacement cards and harder cards?
We do not, so be careful with the cards you have! There are no plans for additional cards at this time.
Can you remove the "Try Me" button and wire from the puzzle board?
Yup. You just have to pull it out. The "Try Me" button is only a wire with a plug.
What if I completed a closed circuit with less than all eight (8) pieces, or with all pieces but not according to the question card, would it still lights up?
There is only one correct solution per card, so even if you did find another way to close the circuit it wouldn't necessarily light up.

If I lose a piece, can I get replacement parts, or do I have to buy another game?
We're sorry, but we do not sell replacement pieces, but it may be possible to obtain replacement pieces from the manufacturer.

I have Cool Circuits and can't figure out how to disconnect the "plug" or wires of the Try Me. I've pulled, pried, broken finger nails. Otherwise, it's great, a big hit! Please help with more detailed explanation of how 'easy' it is to remove these
It should just pull right out. Check to make sure that there isn't anything blocking the plug, such as a little plastic piece that might need to be moved (like a phone jack).
How does the puzzle board "know" that the circuit is complete? please give a real answer.
Electrical wizardry. We're not entirely sure of the exact nature of the board; we just know that it works!
I don't understand what the "try me" button does. I have learned I can pull out the wires from reading your above posts, but I am not sure how I was to use it to "try" it out.
The "Try Me" button is pretty much only for retail stores where customers can take things from the shelves (Target, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, etc). Pressing the button simply makes the toy light up and make noise so that the customer knows what to expect from it.
Can I laminate each card so I can use it for a really long time or will it mess up? I would of course cut out each hole. It will take a while but its worth it!
Laminating the card could prevent it from working properly, so we would not suggest doing that. As long as you keep the cards in their designated slot they shouldn't get too badly damaged.

After a week my cool circuits did not work. I have put in new batteries and it did not work. It worked with the Try me button but not with the circuits.HELP
There's a tab which needs to be removed to take the Cool Circuits game out of "demo mode". Make sure that tab is removed, as it sounds like the game itself is functioning if the "Try Me" button works.
Did John actually have a hard time answering the puzzles? How far did he get?
Some of the puzzles are insanely difficult. We don't remember how far Jon got but he definitely struggled with some of them.

Can you turn the music off and just have the lights?
The Cool Circuits Puzzle has three settings: On, Off, and Mute. The latter will turn off the sounds but keep the lights on.
Are the pieces magnetic?
The pieces are not magnetic. They are held in place by the pegs which they wrap around.
Why did you guys make the beginners so easy?
Because those puzzles were meant for beginners, hence the name. They're essentially tutorial level puzzles.
Could you take this past airport security or will they confiscate it?
It's just a board game. I don't think airport security will care at all.
Is this travel friendly?
You bet! The pieces can even be stored inside the unit so that they don't get lost under the seats.
What does the "try me" on the box do?
It causes the board and pieces to light up while playing a little song.

That won't work. You have to have puzzle sheets in order to complete the circuits.

Cool Circuits does not have the ability to let you create your own functioning circuits.

They're made of cardstock, so yes, they can be bent easily.

It is electronic, so yes, submerging the Cool Circuits game in water will almost certainly ruin it.

Sadly we haven't been able to find batteries that never need replacing, so yes, eventually you will need to replace the batteries. It is not necessary to remove the batteries when the Cool Circuits Board is not in use.
So basically all you have to do is match the pattern with the card or what?
The pattern on the card is just the start of the circuit. It's up to you to figure out the rest!
