Quite possibly the last lantern you'll ever need
The LuminAID Solar-Powered Inflatable Lantern is the result of two students who wanted to make a difference following the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
Originally designed to fulfill the basic needs for light in disaster situations, LuminAID is waterproof, floats, folds flat, recharges in hours, weighs a mere 3 ounces, and provides up to 16 hours of high-powered LED illumination.
Folds flat, charges on-the-go
Simply fold the LuminAID flat, clip it to the outside of your backpack, and you'll have enough charge for a full night of illumination. The high-efficiency monocrystalline solar panel fully recharges in 6-7 hours of sunlight.
Designed for the elements
LuminAID is made from semi-transparent and puncture-resistant TPU. It's a hybrid material that lies somewhere between hard plastic and soft silicone. It's very dense, but smooth so it slides easily in and out of pockets.
Oh, it's also water-proof up to 1 meter deep and when inflated, it floats. It's awesome.
Tough vinyl is built for adventure
Weighing in at a mere three ounces, LuminAID isn't going to slow you down. Its three attachment points and handle make it a great camping tool. And its tough vinyl exterior ensures a long life of outdoor adventures.
Dual brightness settings
Press the red button on the LuminAID's panel to cycle between low and high brightness.
Use the high setting for reading and performing simple tasks (8-10 hours of illumination). Switch to the long-lasting low setting for safety or as a night light (14-16 hours of illumination).
Ideal for emergency preparedness
When folded flat, LuminAID is about the size of a cellphone. It retains a full charge for up to 4 months when stored, so we highly recommend keeping one in your emergency kit or glovebox.
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How do you inflate it?
Answer: Inflate the LuminAID using the valve. The inflation diffuses the LED bulb like a lampshade, providing soft and even illumination.
Question: Why are the letters 'AID' capitalized in its name?
Answer: The manufacturers of LuminAID originally developed the product for distribution to areas of the world afflicted by natural disasters.
Question: But how bright is it?
Answer: The low setting is perfect for reading or small task work. The bright setting easily illuminates the entirety of a 4-person tent.
