Overview

Recycled Crayon Sticks are made entirely from the unwanted crayons that would otherwise be sent to the trash heap. They are sorted, strained, sterilized, melted, and hand-poured into the "RECYCLE" Crayon Stick mold. Because most crayons are petroleum-based (and therefore slow to biodegrade), using Recycled Crayon Sticks is great for the environment.

Each package of Crayon Sticks includes 18 colorful and thick crayons packaged in a simple gift box made from 100% recycled materials.

All crayons admitted to the recycling program conform to the ASTM D423B safety standard.

Crayons are awesome. In fact, over 5 billion are produced each year. Sadly, many are thrown away or discarded and, being petroleum-based, are slow to biodegrade.

As you may know, crayons can be melted down, re-poured, and reused. The National Crayon Recycling program collects discarded crayons from schools, restaurants, and other organizations and recycles them into Crayon Sticks. Imprinted with the word "RECYCLE", they enforce the three "R's" (reduce, reuse, recycle)...and are super-fun to color with!

Here's how the process works: discarded crayons are collected by the National Crayon Recycling Program. This wonderful organization employs people with developmental disabilities who help sort the collected crayons. Then, the crayons are strained, sterilized, melted, and poured into the Crayon Stick shape.

All crayons collected are verified as conforming to ASTM D423B safety standards.

Rich, vibrant colors

The straining process is what makes a Crayon Stick such a high quality crayon. The process removes a lot of the "filler" found in...how shall we say..."economy" crayons. The two primary ingredients in any crayon are paraffin wax and pigment. El cheapo crayons skimp on the paraffin wax and you end up with a crayon whose wax is flaky and doesn't cover the paper well.

Crayon Sticks, on the other hand, provide heavy, vibrant coverage and don't flake.
