With our Recycled Plastic Coasters, you can get your drink on and still feel good about it the next day! You not only get six hand-made coasters crafted entirely from recycled material, but you also get that warm glow of self-satisfaction from having helped provide for the livelihood of struggling artisans in Nepal.
Each four-inch diameter coaster is made from discarded (and thoroughly sanitized) plastic food wrappers. The included storage bowl is also made from recycled materials. Prevent rings on your tables and lend a hand to those less fortunate with the Recycled Plastic Coasters.

Crafted by Nepalese artisans in the remote mountain villages of Shertung, Tipling, and Lapa, each piece is made using discarded non-biodegradable plastic wrappers from popular food products. The wrappers are cleaned, sanitized, and then wrapped tightly into a spiral design.
These brightly colored coasters are made entirely from recycled plastic wrappers.

In many areas of Nepal, you're not going to find a weekly recycling bin pick-up. In order to help educate inhabitants about the importance of recycling, non-profit humanitarian programs were started to encourage the collection of the non-biodegradable "trash" used to create these coasters.
Your purchase of these festive coasters helps provide a livelihood for the people of these remote villages. Plus, they're striking, a great conversation starter, and a fantastic way to reuse waste that would otherwise pile up in a landfill.
