Remote Controlled DIY Wooden Dinosaurs

A great project for anyone eight years or older, constructing the Remote Control Wooden Dinosaur is easy with clearly labeled pieces that fit together without tools or glue.

We toss around the word "awesome" fairly regularly at Vat19.com. While awesome is often used to express something that is "extremely good or excellent", the more strict definition (according to dictionary.com) is "extremely impressive or daunting; inspiring great admiration, apprehension, or fear."
Few things fit this definition more perfectly than dinosaurs. These great lizards have captured the imagination of kids and adults for over 150 years. The R/C Wooden Dinosaur combines dinosaurs, model building, and robotics into a fascinating do-it-yourself project.
Walks and roars at your command
Each R/C Wooden Dinosaur contains everything you need to create your own walking and roaring robotic dino. Assembly does not require any tools or glue. Check out the short demo video below to see the dinos in action!
The completed dinosaur has the look of a skeletal model despite its robotic nature. The electrical components and motors are well hidden inside the the dinosaur.
Simple and easy to control
The R/C Wooden Dinosaur comes with a four-button remote. The mode selector allows you to switch between free, demo, and R/C modes.
In R/C mode, you can command the dinosaur to let out a mighty roar or to walk. Please note that the T-Rex can also turn left and right. The other dinosaurs cannot turn, but instead have three walking speeds.
The "Free" and "Demo" modes are designed to allow your dinosaur to react to light and sound commands.
Annoyance-free construction
We feel that it's important to point out that the R/C Wooden Dinosaur is a joy to assemble. Each dinosaur ranges from 79 to 104 pieces and every single one will pop out easily without any fracturing or splintering. Unlike some wooden model projects, you won't need to sand each piece after popping it out.
No tools required
Building your robotic dinosaur does not require any tools or glue. All of the pieces simply fit or snap together.
Detailed, easy-to-follow instructions
The R/C Wooden Dinosaurs are fairly complex, yet not difficult to build due to the fantastic instructions. Each step is clearly illustrated and, when necessary, photographed for further clarity. Pieces are also individually labeled.
We built the T-Rex (the most complex of the dinos available) in about 3.5 tantrum-free hours.
Control their actions with light and sound
In addition to controlling your dinosaur with the included remote control, you can also use sound and light to direct its behavior. If you have multiple dinosaurs, they will react to the sound of each other's roars. Awesome, indeed.
Did we mention that they roar?
Each of the R/C Wooden Dinosaurs can roar. The sound is produced by a speaker hidden within their frame.
The T-Rex, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops will open their mouths and move their heads depending on which of the three included roars is activated. The Apatosaurus does not feature any articulated head or mouth movements. Please note that each dinosaur features different roaring sounds.
Collect all four dinosaurs!
The R/C Wooden Dinosaurs are available in the following styles: T-Rex (104 pieces), Apatosaurus (79 pieces), Triceratops (94 pieces), and Stegosaurus (88 pieces).
Please note a few differences between the dinosaurs:
- Only T-Rex can turn left and right. The other dinos do not have this ability. Instead, they have three different walking speeds.
- All of the Dinosaurs can roar. However, Apatosaurus' mouth does not move when he roars.
