Hidden magnets = magical blocks
The spectrum of construction possibilities increases dramatically with Tegu Blocks thanks to the embedded magnets. The designers have gone to great lengths to ensure each magnet is sealed (you'll be hard-pressed to discover where the block was cut), is perfectly balanced, and is strategically placed for optimal connection locations.
Each Tegu block (just like all magnets) features north and south poles. So, if a block doesn't stick at first, just flip it and stick it!

Building system is grid-based for maximum creativity
The base "unit" in the Tegu system is a 30mm x 30mm x 30mm cube. All other blocks are proportionally sized in relation to the so-called "Tegu cube". This makes certain that the blocks just fit together as you build and create.

Help bring change to Honduras
Located in Central America, Honduras is the third poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. The creators of Tegu are on a mission to help break its cycle of poverty.
Tegu, named after the Honduran capital city of Tegucigalpa (also home to its factory), provides living wage jobs and long-term career growth. The company also plants trees (lots of them!), and donates to local reforestation efforts every time a Tegu set is sold.
Additionally, Tegu partners with a local school to remove kids working in the local trash dump and place them into a classroom.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Which set should I purchase?
Answer: Both, of course! But in all seriousness, you should buy both. Note: because the 42-piece set includes a few additional shapes as well as wheels, we think older kids (7+) would benefit more from it.
Question: What is the recommended age range?
Answer: The manufacturer recommends Tegu for ages 1-99. We personally think the 14-piece set is better suited for ages 1-6, though.
Question: Why do they cost more than free? Because like... yeah, I can get non-magnetic blocks for free by chopping down a tree, removing the bark, cutting the wood into small blocks, and sanding them smooth. All you've done is add some magnets and dye them pretty colors!
Answer: If your time and labor is free, we could sure use you around the Vat19 offices! Sure, a set of standard wood blocks is far less expensive than Tegu blocks. However, those blocks aren't magnetic and magnets are not cheap. Plus, placing them inside of a wood block, safely sealing the block, and then coloring it with non-toxic water-based dyes costs money.
Tegu blocks are going to last a lifetime, will provide more hours of playability than an expensive video game, stimulate creativity and development, and are just plain fun!

Answer: Yes. Tegu is fanatical about safety. Tegu blocks are rigorously tested to CPSIA and EN standards. They also use 100% non-toxic, water-based dyes.
