Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Will they smudge my hands?
Answer: Nope! While each pencil is solid graphite, it is coated with a thin layer of lacquer to prevent dirty hands.
Question: How do you sharpen them?
Answer: Any kind of sharpener will work. We've successfully tested it with handheld sharpeners and electric sharpeners.
Question: What does the hardness grade mean?
Answer: Our Woodless Graphite Pencils feature a hardness grade of 2B. The HB scale runs from B to 9B. The higher the number, the darker the markings and the faster it will dull. Unfortunately, there is no standardization as each manufacturer sets their own scale. So, a 2B from one manufacturer may have different characteristics than a 2B from a different maker.
We chose this particular 2B because it allows for a great flexibility. It is a bit softer than a traditional #2 pencil, but not so soft that it can't be used for writing. It can also be sharpened into a very fine point for sharp detail.
Question: They're just pencils. What makes them so awesome?
Answer: What you can create with them (amazing drawings and sketches) is why they're awesome. We realize a set of sleek graphite pencils may not be as jaw-dropping (or jaw-tiring) as a Giant Gummy Snake, but we have a soft spot in our hearts for art and creativity. Plus, these are more than just regular pencils. They're solid graphite! Our hope is that this will encourage someone to put pencil to paper and create! So, buy, buy, buy!
